L'air smelled fantastico...

on the mrt.
Outside the mrt in the wetness of the road.
Of the trees.
And it still does.
wootzx0rs

STOP HEALING. You think the wet walk on the way back home will keep me sick? Just maybe? wootz0rs

Can't wait to read book 2 of Planetary. wootzx0rs

Here's a scribbled thought this afternoon. I liveblogged!
7.10pm: People with high standards. Would it be mildly accurate to say that they are sacrificing l e n g t h for depth? By putting standards on what they consume visually, mentally and literally ( and more), they enjoy fewer things as much as they would if they had lower standards, BUT what they do enjoy/appreciate, they appreciate more. 'Tis like an image photoshopped to have the colour contrasted. There are fewer colours after all, but the colours that remain are richer. Deeper. Perhaps a sort of balance exists between how many things you enjoy and how much you enjoy the things.

And now, examples!
Take this picture of Mr Oldman.

So many colours can be found in the picture! Below the image are just a few of the colours that make up the image. So many, but so bland. However, it is the many bland colours that 'mesh' together to form the beautiful image above.

Now, let us contrast the picture's colours. I will not tolerate mixing between my colours. There are certain things I want my colours to be, and the abberations don't allow them to fit in.
Only three different colours! Three! So few, and the colours mesh not. They know what they are, and where they stand. They aint walking around anyplace to 'mix'. But lonely and few as they may be, they are deep. Vibrant. Hundreds of times richer than any of the previous greyed colours. The colours infuse themselves into your eyes, your mind. They are hard to forget. Still, the picture is no longer as beautiful as it once was. The features within the picture are hard to find, difficult to see. In their efforts to shine bright alone, the vivid colours make us forget of, or reject even, their many other cousins.

Now, for the other extreme. No contrast. All colours should be free to diversify and mix. Anything goes. Any and every colour is free to welcome itself into my picture.

All colours have congregated here. The image has taken anything it can, doesn't care if the colours are or aren't vivid and vibrant. But what's this? So many colours have entered the image, and we see them all as equal! Equally bland, equal in value. I don't need to love them, I'll just take as many as I can. Only one colour appears present in the image. Or is it all colours? In the attempt to mix all colours together, the mixer has made our image's subject incomprehensible. What is it? The image no longer has identity, no longer has meaning. Worse still than the picture of high contrast, the image within is no longer hard to find, but there is no longer an image. Sacrificing vividity for diversity, the picture is bland, is dull, is boring. The many other cousins have welcomed in too many relatives, and in doing so have forgotten themselves.

Thassall. I must go toilet now.

Zmmmm...

Thought.
Conceived during my walk from school to Serangoon MRT.
Suits that enable the wearer to feel absolutely no pain (not no feeling - no pain.) would be a boon to the technical training of martial arts. One could practice endlessly on an actual person - not a bag of sand - without holding back in any way. Or worry as much about making mistakes.

Got to jot these things down, you know.

Note: Smokers help my circulatory system's efficiency. When I hold my breath and walk quicker, my body is forced to make do with relatively less oxygen.

Bought sexay new NYJC FBT shorts today! WOOOO
I hate them. I hate the shortness.
Will probably just use em for running.
NOT JUDO

To do:
Look up prices of things in the 'production cost' list for The Project.
Tell Mrs Boo that parents won't be coming.
Inquire about the math China trip.
Inquire about math interest group
Inquire about the IT courses. Date? Collides Project Management course?
Find deadline for MRP
Read up on oil

Mass Oakism? No la.

'Tis the end of Week A. I've had...
my sides ache from yesterday's PE run,
my core aches from Monday's PE and Tuesday's Judo,
legs and butt ache from PE and Judo,
a nice purple-yellow ring-shaped bruise on my left bicep,
a bruise somewhere on the surface of my right pelvis area
and a bruise below my left kneecap.

This afternoon I woke up to find the mrt had passed Harbourfront station, and was heading back towards Punggol. (Luckily I only found out at Chinatown)

This is week A.

I think I like it here.
Again.

Consider a Baby With No Functioning Senses.

Touch,
Taste,
Sight,
Hearing,
Smell.

(I think the popular five are good enough, thank you. No need for proprioception and others.)

Anyway,
today as I was walking to Harbourfront mrt, I was thinking of the different names of the brain's lobes. The three that I had remembered. (I didn't memorize the name of the hind lobe. Yet.)
And I had the frontal and temporal down.
But there was that other one. The one at the crown of the head? That one!

I forgot its name.
Tried very hard to recall it in my mrt trip.

But the answer never came until I got out of Serangoon mrt, and was walking to schoooool.
The song "Temperature" by Some Person was in my head. I wondered suddenly if this distractedness would have 'freed up' my memory a bit, and took another shot at recalling that darn lobe.

Parietal!
PARIETAL OH YAR HOORRRRR
PARIETALPARIETALPARIETAL

Maha, it worked.
Then I was happied. Yay

(Fourth is occipital, fyi)

[PS: a pimple is doing its best to fight its way through the skin-covered cartilage of my left outer nostril.]

Kolores

Singapore's got many secondary schools with a green colour theme to their uniforms.

Ang Mo Kio Secondary
St. Margaret's Secondary
Gan Eng Seng Secondary (Just the girls actually..)
Clementi Woods Secondary
this school with verylight green shirts and dark olive green pants
Tanjong Katong Girls' School
Yishun Town Secondary

thassall, I think.
(I won't even bother with the all-white uniforms)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

5 mins 25 secs
400m x 3

that makes for..

1200m/325s
= 3.69231 m/s

Yey.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Also: Jc2 people have a particular walking frequency about them that enables them to... overtake me. During the walk to/from the mrt.
I must copy this standard walking speed at once! Or rather, reclaim it! I remember walking in that terribly fast-paced look-straight-faster-go-home-now-now-now way back in Outram.

(The time taken to walk to school from mrt has reduced to about 10mins by the way. Yey again, the faster routes are showing themselves.)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Second assignment evar: GP. 1000-word research paper on a significant event in 2008. 5% of promos.

Wi

First assigned homework of the year comes from: Economics
Assignment: Comment on that article that was given out. Write about it. Put notes down. (Vague, yah.)

Lectures today:
-Phys: intro, start on units/measurements
-Math: intro, info about standard notations, tiny start (a refresher rather) on Binomial theorem
-GP: Video of Events of the past year. We got up to halfway through October.
-Econs: Why is Econs important, what you will need to 'survive'.

PS: Got my first look at the school tie today. Green? Friend said that it was good, worked well with the uniform.
But I think that the best tie colour to complement the NYJC uniform would be red. Dark red/maroonish. It would be linked to the school's Chinese-related affiliations (see: cheenaness) too. Maybe it's because VJC already has a red tie. Blah.
[Edit: And yjc. And njc. bleh.]
